For healthcare providers (and their patients), the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic were stressful, chaotic, and incredibly unpredictable.
AdventHealth was no exception. In 2020, the non-profit healthcare enterprise needed to rapidly increase internal development capabilities and ramp up their ability to deliver compassionate care throughout a network of 50+ national hospitals: almost overnight, Covid-19 had increased patient intake volume and telemedicine demand.
This wasn’t just about protecting $12 billion per year in revenue – the company was also responsible for 80,000 employees and the lives of thousands of vulnerable patients.
Under normal circumstances, the process of recruiting, vetting, and onboarding qualified tech talent typically took the company months (and came with no guarantees of success). This was not an option – they needed access to a reliable pool of senior developers immediately.
After exploring several IT staffing and recruitment options, they ultimately settled on Concepta’s augmented IT staffing solution.
Due to the unique circumstances of the pandemic, AdventHealth needed to quickly multiply their in-house development team without sacrificing the quality of care that their patients depended on. The entire company was overwhelmed by the then-mysterious virus that had taken the world by storm and they lacked the internal resources (and time) to hire and train qualified IT staff.
On top of all the new features they had to implement as a result of Covid-19, AdventHealth also needed more developers to deliver on its existing, pre-Covid commitments.

Following a discovery call with AdventHealth to go over their requirements and tech stack, our team met internally and developed a multi-tiered plan for increasing their ranks. In recognition of the unique, time-sensitive nature of this request, the first step was to deploy an experienced Scrum team as quickly as possible. From there, we would have some breathing room to source and deploy more developers.
Within 2 weeks, we added and trained 6 skilled senior developers that were able to immediately reduce the burden on AdventHealth’s existing IT department. Over the next 5 months, we brought in 14 additional senior developers, rounding out the expert team at 20. Throughout it all, our in-depth vetting process ensured that, with minimal training developers were ready to code in just a matter of days.
